Fathers Day story
I was about 8 years old coming home from school .My mom hurried me to her sisters .I was told nothing but i muststay there indefinetel;y .Turned out Dad Was In A Bad Gas methanegas explosian at no 8 mine in Coaldale .Dad was burned from waste to his ears .Even his hair was burned off .Dad was at the local hospitalfor two weeks the transfered to a burn in Philly .We had no car fortunately a minister would take mom to see dad in Philadelphia ,Over 8 months struggled to live .He screamed when his bandages were removed .Odds of him dying from burn infection were 8 to 1 ,This all takes place over 11 months from accident to Thanksgiving ,We had a turkey an trimmings made by my 3 sisters .The day was not celebrated it was like a pre Funeral dirge .In December Dad rallied some his weight went from 120s up to 150 .Had he turned the corner .i will never forget the following Dec third1960 .I heard some thumping on our porch .I figured my buddy Mike came an parked his bicycle on the porch .There was a knock iOpened The Door ,There Stood a Lady in All white clothes White Had white blouse White Skirt .I Started to cry figuring It Was A Angel Of Death .But She spoke i have a visitor here But Do Nottouch Him .my God It Was Dad in A Wheelchair .well Dad Weak stayed at our house for 20 minutes .He had to go back to the burn center .Conclusion Dad Survived he went Back Mining For A few Weeks And those weeks riuned him physically .We Had 5 kids .Dad did the best he could .He loved mining .I miss you pop .Jack from Coaldale

Memories. Some are good. Some are bad. My favorites are the in between ones. Just the random flicker of a face in a room of a house that is now owned by someone else. A room view of a holiday long passed.
