It's a light vehicle that had very good brakes for it's size, even fully loaded and pulling a 1/4 ton trailer. With just two people in it those drum brakes will put your nose into the windshield in a panic stop.
Vet Buddy uses his as a daily driver in the hills of eastern NY State.
If I could afford it, I'd own one in a heart beat.

Many US states are making it so you can't license any of
these vehicles even if they are over 25 years old...
You can import them but states control licensing so
they can refuse you a registration to operate the
vehicle on their roads...
They also have to be on the list of vehicles allowed to
be imported to the US for federal eligibility....

I know that because I know someone that owns a Honda Kei truck. The vehicle itself has to be 25 years old.
Point is you would never be able to build and sell these in the US primarily because of safety and EPA regulations. Even with the small trucks that have all but disappeared over the past decades did so because of EPA regs.
