It’s called extremely hard water.
Was two flukes. The original I had pulled out was well over 35 years old and both my dad and I ew h had replaced elements twice in that unit before buying the new unit that quickly went bad. The second one that went bad was replaced by the new home owner and they haven’t had an issue since. So I’ll call it two flukes.

Could be - they definitely don’t put much “extra” in anything these days.
As for the super hard water, generally what you don’t spend on water treatment you will spend on reduced appliance life and increased soap consumption.
