A few wheelchair bound MMA fighters have seen success from this therapy in Mexico. Matt Hughes is one MMA fighter to research his story. I believe he was also in a really bad accident if I recall correctly. His story is nothing short of amazing. The story is on youtube somewhere.
They are doing the stem cell therapy right here in the USA at Mayo Clinic. This report just showed up on Yahoo News this morning. Hopefully it's as successful as it sounds.

They have a limited trial and it sure seems promising. But my Son in Law is not going to show up at the Mayo and get treatment at this time.

Presently he is at Craig Hospital in Englewood CO and recovering and learning how to get around in a wheelchair and perform day to day functions.

Apparently they’re doing some type of stem cell therapy at hospitals in the Cincinnati & the Dayton area also, and apparently have been for some time now.

My cousin recently told me that’s what he had done to him there a few years ago for an injury he had.

I’m thinking the type of stem cell therapy these high profile athletes are having done in Mexico has to be different than those being done here. Why do I think that?

1. These are big name high profile athletes with deep pockets directly paying out of pocket for the care. These are athletes that although may no longer be competitive because of age, but still draw lots of money from advertisers paying these athletes to advertise for them.

2. They would be having it done here in the U.S. if it were the same type of treatment and were available here.

Otherwise, no reason to pay exorbitant health care costs out of pocket for a special and “different” type of stem cell treatment not being done here.

I’m not saying it is a different type of stel cell therapy, but that would seem logical considering the names and traveling out of country.

I am sure that there is always hope.
The thing is that there is also the reality of life and probably a time and place for everything.
I did forward a video from earlier to my daughter.

At this point in time, He just came home maybe 2 weeks ago. He still has lots of pain.
People have been working on renovating their home.
Their bedroom is in the walkout basement. It is rough terrain to get out that door.
He has been kinda stuck and isolated in the basement.
An elevator was just installed the other day that now gives him access to the main floor.
He spent weeks/months in Craig Hospital and is not only trying to recover from physical injuries like demolished ribs and punctured lungs and??? but also is dealing with the paralyzation from the waist down.
Sounds like everything is a chore. Urinating requires catheterization and obviously he wouldn't feel the need to go. So I would imagine a person needs to have some type of formula based on time and fluid intake to know when to urinate. Same thing for bowel but I would imagine that bowel is much easier to time but a longer process. Sounds like he needs to dedicate an hour or more for the poop process.

Anyway, Thanks for the video. Keep the good news coming. At this point I am going to let them settle in and figure out how to live. They are smart people and will figure it out. I am confident that if there is a cure it will get pursued. I think today the goal is to figure out how to get dressed, into a vehicle, to work, to the bathroom, to cook?? Pretty much everything I would take for granted.

:o That's friggin criminal.

My wife has the receipt from her mom when she gave birth to her in '71 - $129.00 . And I've had to pay $1,600 out of pocket for a friggin root canal and crown - just ONE! Our medical industry is hopeless for the working man. It has become a luxury for the rich.

Think what the medical costs were in the days before insurance became so popular. Routine doctor visit $15-25.00.

First wife worked for a Long Island ad agency. I stopped in pick her up after work. While waiting I was thumbing through the latest printing of a surgical equipment catalog they were in the process of doing or a LI surgical supply company. Found a pair of stainless steel 6 inch serrated tip tweezers exactly like the ones I used for ship model work. Only difference was the "eye surgery" tweezers had gold plated tips. Mine cost $12.00 in a model shop - the surgical ones were $250.00.

One of my customers is president of the competition to Welch-Allen. He has his own twin engine private plane - paid for by the company. A nice big house in northeastern Conn. and another nice ocean front house near Owls Head Maine.

I know a couple of drug company salesmen that made incredible amounts of money.

That's a major part of why your med bills are so high. Outrageous costs of med equipment and drugs.

Exactly. The whole system has fallen victim to greed. People USED to have Christian values, and wouldn't do these things, especially to the sick / needy!

I told my wife recently that the hospitals insurance companies and doctor bills will eventually take every penny weve managed to save and then some. Even your retirement account is not safe. We have been exploring ways to insulate ourselves from them but its not easy. We both have insurance but premiums, deductibles and co pays keep rising. Deductibles now at 10k for each of us for a year. Premiums thousands more,co pays hundreds more .Soon will be as much as our entire income. No wonder the no 1 cause of bankruptcy is medical bills.
