Recently bought a 220 bushel gravity wagon to store coal for my k15 stoker and am going to be hooking a 4” x 6’ auger that I already have into the wagon feeding directly into the hopper for the boiler. Anyone else running farm augers for coal? Any issues? Worried it may tear the auger up and the casing quickly with how hard rice coal is. Thanks!
I used both..... straight auger from tractor supply 11ft mainly used it (along with my friends) to unload dump trailers into the coal bin.... way in excess of 100 ton and not even a belt change..... currently using a flex auger to move pea coal uphill and over 35ft with a 45 angle and so far so good with 20 ton approx ran thru it... it is used to feed a coal gun with auto feed... only problem I can see is eventually my plastic 45 will wear thru.....if using rice or buck you will have no issues

Did you invest in a polyethylene grain hopper to put under the auger
so you can feed coal without spilling it?
Blains Farm & Fleet has them for $99.00+tax and shipping.
