If you've ever wondered about how coal breakers work, here's a good You Tube video.

Interesting, though I'm disappointed at the amount of times the narrator repeated himself without explaining how it was done, "impurities were removed" is really the intention of the process, not the how too of it...and I'm not sure all that was done by hand. Was it?
And the whole dialogue about 'child labor' went a little too far. Made it sound like fathers were dragging their kids to work, really not caring if they got hurt, not giving them warnings about safety...and apparently kids were stupid enough to not wear gloves and go home EVERY DAY with countless cuts?
While I'm not FOR child labor, or 8-12 year olds being anywhere except in school at that age, this is usually posed in a very self righteous way. Like they could live a cozy life on an income from Sheetz, with an iPhone 15+, free healthcare and have so much food to be obese but instead decided to slave away in some horrible working conditions and drag their whole family there with them just to jeaprodize their lives....for fun...
We are so spoiled here in these Unites States in this era, such a large percentage of the world and it's history is worried about bare survival and we often judge them as if they already have that and are just being greedy on top of it. Sorry, we're the greedy ones trying to eek more when we're fully provided for.
I like this kind of stuff, and it's good to raise awareness about errors of the past - but let's be realistic and thankful about how we live everyday the dividends of their hard work.

His mispronouncing Keyser Avenue is a disturbing. It is otherwise a nice short overview of the breaker operation. I'm not sure when the heavy media process came to be but was not mentioned in the video.
