Having some troubles keeping a good consistent burn and boiler temp in my old Jensen. Now been searching and reading up in baro dampers which right now I don’t have, and I also do not have a manual damper. Does a baro damper aid in helping either issue? My chimney draws really well, and sometimes a little too well. Through the course of this, also have seen where they can actually be a bad thing, especially in wood burning. Which I know to cap it off (if I install one)
Does a baro help with the boiler temp and fire staying consistent? Or is it a totally separate issue.

A baro limits the chimney draw (draft) which in turn keeps combustion air coming in, consistent. Bit coal has a sharp heat output curve. A fresh load dumps out a lot of volatile gas at first then settles down. A baro might help smooth it out a little. As compared to anthracite, a baro will make heat output rock steady.
