I recently picked up a restored 1850s Abendroth coal franklin that I hope to hook up to the thimble within a week. As you can see theres no real draft control besides the damper once I get the stove pipe in. I have been looking for an older franklin like this for some time and the only cost was driving from Maine down to the Cape to pick it up. I'm guessing the learning curve will be a bit interesting with no real way to control the fire on the stovd besides covering the air intake. Dont worry the stove is just sitting in place for now while I redo the wall treatments in the room and will be correctly placed when everything is ready.

Pretty, but looks like a wood stove. Can you post pix of the insides ?

Shes definitely an early coal burner, barnstable did the restoration a few years back on it. I did a lot of digging on the 1850s-70s period and it has the distinctive early coal grates. Its pretty cool it has all the grate bits, ash pan theres a lever on the back side to dump the ashes.
