So aggravating how you used to be able to buy ANYTHING you wanted over the internet. These days you're funneled into what everyone else does, or what the powers that be want to promote. Pisses me off!
So, as the title says, I need a 3 foot section of 5 INCH stainless SINGLE WALL stove pipe. Not chimney pipe - STOVE. Wasted half the afternoon searching. Looks like I'm going to have to custom rig something. In order to convert this to 6" which is commonly found, it'll cost me $1,000 at least. That's not happening! Got to be reasonably priced, too. Much over $100 for 3' seems excessive, but if that's what I have to do, so be it. I draw the line at $150.
Strange how stainless single-walled elbows can be found anywhere, but just a simple 2' - 3' section of pipe is unobtainium!
I've been using galvanized pipe there for years - as you can see from the pics, not the best choice. My stockpile of sections has run out, and I'm tired of replacing them anyway. Got a billion other project that need immediate attention, like our automobiles that get absolutely pulverized by MA roadways.
Wondering if stainless chimney liner would fit over the one 5" OD end. The outside end has a corrugated taper, so that will be no problem, but inside is a full 5" OD. Was looking at gas, adjustable Z-pipe. Looks low quality. The pipe is high enough that I'm not worried about nuclear temperatures. By the time it reaches the outside, it's below 300° worst case
Can anyone help a super-aggravated brother out?

I don't think that there is a single definition of a "single wall SS stove pipe".
One has to ID the specific class of SS (type/thickness/etc)...and a pipe of such can be used as a stove pipe.
Otherwise, you are leaving it up to another to call something they sell as what you want.

Any local sheetmetal shop can roll one up for ya. Not sure what grade of SS some have in stock. Cheaper than $150.

Appreciate the ideas, fellas.
mtnbugy, that's a great idea, but around here, good luck finding one. Then if you do, good luck finding someone willing to go out on a limb for some guy they don't know. Any manufacturing / fabrication that's left in this state is usually in the cities. It's few and far between. Not worth the aggravation going to any city. It's tough up here! If I still lived in AZ, that would've worked .., but then I wouldn't need heat in my shop! Ahh the F'in conundrum!
Brilliant minds think alike, Grumpy - I almost grabbed a length of straight pipe. I know I could get one end to work, but the other would've been a fight so I scrapped that plan. The other one with the rolled ends wouldn't have worked, due to the exactly 5" diameter of the double-walled pipe it has to run through. Thanks for the ideas though, buddy.
David, thanks for the eBay link - that was EXACTLY what I was looking for! No clue why I couldn't find that before! Must've been my wording, including "single wall" in all my searches. I was on eBay for a friggin half hour, too! eBay's search engines SUCK!
I grabbed a longer section than I had planned on. That'll replace the last section of galvy that runs part way inside the building. There were 2 pieces joined together inside that insulated pipe that goes through the wall.
The 6" pipe & reducer off my stove is just regular black pipe, but since it doesn't get rained on, it's lasted a couple years. Moisture sucks!

LOL I found the listing in 2 min. Go figure. I think I searched for "SS pipe" and it was 4th on the list. I get lots of materials from ebay. I always check and make sure that they are the cheapest. Because I'm cheap.

Local HVAC supply house should be able to source any stovepipe you want and it's commercial grade.

HAHAHA! I probably would if I didn't live in this cesspit of a state. I'd make it 3 miles down the road and get impounded, & fined into bankruptcy.
Isn't one of those for 30+ miles from where I live. Then, any time I travel ANYWHERE to try to buy anything around here, it's unobtanium. Never fails! EVERY time. That's why I don't even bother getting in the truck. Might as well find it online and keep the blood pressure low.coaledsweat wrote: ↑Mon. 30 millisec after Smitty drives 20 min to store only to be told "Oh, that's an online order part only. Its for your convenience "

Sometimes with ebay you have to sign out or use an incognito window to find what your searching for, otherwise ebays search engine will show you what they think you really want, going by various previous searches while signed in.
They have so many search options now on the left hand side its silly. Its fine for hi-tech stuff but for stuff like you looked for its harder. But I think Amazon is worse.
What i love is searching for a car part by number and they show other numbers instead...

Yeah, it's super aggravating! Not a very good system. You'd think with all the money they pull down they'd be buying some of Google's tech for that.

Smitty , I picked up 8'' and 9'' SS pipe and elbows at DS stoves in Gordonville Pa.
Its 316 alloy . Nice stuff , good sizing and easy to work with a small 4'' disk grinder .
