Hmmm.. does it easily shift around? Or does it seem stable.. I guess what I'm asking is, could it fall out? Or is it wedged in behind the chimney flue damper opening?

It is stable for sure. He cut it some how and it is well placed in there. I do see some areas around it that might need to be covered but am I correct in saying I can use fiberglass insulation without the backing to stuff in those areas?

Yes, stuff any gaps around the sides of the plate with fiberglass insulation.. I see some gaps between the pipe and the plate, you can stuff those too.. don't get overly obsessed with it, the purpose of sealing those gaps is to give you the best natural chimney draft.. as long as that plate is secure and sealed decently, you should be golden going forward with connecting the stove.

By chance did anyone look thru the chimney to check for any obstructions? Sometimes birds, squirrels, ECT will build nests..

Is the pipe able to slide up or down thru the diamond plate hole? You may need to, to line up with the outlet on the stove. Other than that, you should only need a short length of 6 inch diameter straight pipe to get from the stove outlet to your chimney pipe. Have you tried to swivel those short sections at the bottom of that pipe to form the angle needed to go to the stove?

Yes, I actually just had the chimney repaired in September. Bricks were missing on top, it needed new flues and to be built back up. So it definitely is clear. Literally trying to swivel it now to make it work. My brain cant comprehend it though. I'll keep working at it. The pipe in the chimney feels stuffed in there. I do not believe I can move it. It feels jammed almost.

Ok... Not a big deal if you can't move the pipe up or down.. I understand, those rotating sections can be confusing to make the proper angle. Keep trying 🙂

If it's not working out you could leave it pointing down and just add another 90. You may need it anyways to line up with the outlet on the stove. How high is the outlet on the stove?

It's hard to see what you are dealing with from here, as you could imagine... Lol

Maybe your pipe installer anticipated you would need another 90 to line up with the stove?

The pipe looks tipped from hearth side towards back of chimney. You may need another adjustable 90 to get it to line up.

Guys!!!! I’ve been up and running flawlessly for three days. It’s 12 degrees out and 74 inside. We are used to 62 inside and bundling up. This is amazing. I appreciate all the help.

Pipe out of stove to elbow then elbow up. Took the elbow out that was hanging out of chimney . Had to rearrange things because I couldn't figure it out!

Haha, yes she's from florida. She worships the heat! I'm not sure how hot it is in there but it's too hot for me. The next room over is reading 74 degrees. My house is just shy of 3,000 sq ft and this thing is just roasting us. I can imagine the room it's in is way over 80 degrees. Happy holidays to you too!
