This is the heat pump I am currently installing in my sons house

Using the calculator on this site my heating would cost $1400 in electric. Nyseg does charge about .12 for electric.
(Bill Total - Basic Service Charge) / Kw = .114 on my current bill
The above senville unit is actually more efficient (COP) than 250% at our normal winter temps.
Coal $440 = $2200
Pellets $7 = $2800
Propane $3800
Fuel Oil $4200
For my house, Amazon made a pricing mistake and I bought a 24k mrcool for $1447(this years price is $2500).
Not as efficient as the senville, but complete diy with warranty without having the $140/hr tech finish up the install.
I figure I will be lighting the stoker if it gets real cold. With the heat pump upstairs I am concerned about the plumbing in the basement. Hopefully just idling for those 2 months.

Edit: Plus I should be getting back 30% of the cost of the mini splits when I do my income tax.
New heating system should I get rid of coal?

Sweet deal you got on your Mr. Cool device. Would have been cheaper if you did not pay Amazon...Bezos don't need your money.xackley wrote: ↑Fri. Sep. 01, 2023 1:06 am This is the heat pump I am currently installing in my sons house

I heat with oil now via tankless water heater. I use 0.75 gal/day. With $3.50/gal, that comes out to $900/yr for hot water; hot water heating is the only consumption of heating oil since I installed the Hitzer.
When I heated the house with oil it was about 200 gal a month for 7 mos = $4900. ($3.50/gal - est next season cost if with oil)
Why you installing that mini-split for your kid ... he's not gonna learn anything when you do it. kek
Post pics of the install...."Knock down that fargin wall..."
