Belated annual greetings!
Hope all are warm and well.
My coal burning season has been different and "interesting"
I didn't fire up my stove until around New Year's.
Had someone do some remodeling which I had to re-do the whole project and had bare drywall that I wanted painted before I added soot.
Then, I found myself having difficulty going to the basement to fire the stove and just got out of hospital with pneumonia.
Coal firing duties are entrusted to my 30 year old son.
Great kid but, occasionally, bone-headed.
(Probably got that from his mom.)
Yesterday, he tells me he needs to replace some fire brick.
He's done that before.
Picked some up at Central Tractor and should be good.
Last night he shows me a big crack in the front liner.
My manual for the 1557 shows different numbers for the front and rear liner but they look the same
I'll check with US Stove a little later this morning.
The rear liner number is a lot easier to find.
I'm tempted to put the old liner back in, temporarily.
I'll post an interesting coal story later.
Thanks for always listening to my rambles

I had some urgency after letting myself run out of propane just before Christmas and a $900 bill
