I think all the fine tunning is done. We've put over 1100 miles on it since the carb swap and I LOVE it!

It runs so good, We might not go back to fuel injection. :x

Lets go for a ride!

Yeah, I'll take a carburetor any day of the week over FI. Tunable, fixable without an aneurism, and EXCELLENT throttle response that can't be matched!

SWEEEEET!! 🙌

Thanks Smitty!

Most people don't understand the "Excellent Throttle Response" part! Working 2 small throttle blades is more responsive than one big one.

Indeeed!

If you talk to some of the younger generation, they'll tell you that carburetors are "unreliable", "wash oil off cylinder walls causing rapid engine failure", and "get terrible mileage".

Oh, how did the country remain mobile for the first EIGHT decades of motoring?!?

With a carb there is also no torque management via a computer. This is often what people immediately notice when they install a “tune” on a modern vehicle that disables torque management.

Carbs can give great performance, if they are tuned properly. Unfortunately a lot of people do not know how to properly tune a carb, and even less understand an advance curve.

Yep, very true!

I'd say that's the main reason for their bad rap. The youngsters never remember the good stories - only the bad. That's human nature.

Nick does a good job of describing the right amount of throttle response in the intro to this video  :

That was Awesome!
It's been a while since I watched one of 'Old Nick's videos. He approached that hot rods throttle response problem the same way I did with mine. That means I did the right thing. :D

From The ARCHIVES!
Back in the 80's, my Dad used to help me out with my crazy Hot Rods. Among them were the Chevy V-6 powered VW Beetle, 350 V-8 powered Chevy Monza, Turbocharged Porsche 911 to name a few.

This one is about my 1971 Datsun 240 Z.
IMG_0004.JPG

IMG_0004.JPG

I did a lot of modifications to the two 240-Z's I had during the 80's. Mostly suspension and engine mods.
IMG_0003.JPG

IMG_0003.JPG

I built a few different 2.4 and 2.6 liter engines with Webber carbs. The last one was Turbocharged and made over 300 HP.
IMG_0002.JPG

IMG_0002.JPG

All through the 80's I Himmed and Hawed over a Chevy V-8 conversion saying "They're too heavy", "They don't have Overhead Cams so they're no good".
IMG_0005.JPG

IMG_0005.JPG

Finally, in 1989 I got an L98 Corvette engine, with the Super T-10 aluminum 4 Speed. I put a 350/350 hydraulic cam in it. Bought the Hooker kit, headers, motor mounts, trans mount, and slammed it in.

First time I drove it I realized "I Should Have Done This In The Beginning!!". And that is why I had to build a Porsche 944 with a Chevy V-8. The 240-Z's were great but they all rust out. The 944's are far more rust resistant.

This is a short video of the first start of my Chevy V-8 powered Datsun 240 Z. That car was AEWSOME! Thanks for being there Dad!

Happy Holidays!
