A friend of mine has a Franco Belge gravity fed fuel oil stove. It seems to work well but I've been trying to convince him coal would be a better choice. Anyone know anything about those stoves? It's the only one I've ever seen.

Gravity fed oil stoves using either number 2 or kero are the norm in the southern regions of the U.S. When we lived in Florida we had a 55 gallon drum on a stand outside the house. The drum was higher than the stove so it fed by gravity through a 3/8 inch copper line. It had a needle valve on the rear of the stove and that was how you regulated the flow of oil.

Try typing Franco Belge Oil stove in Google and you'll find lots of information on them.

gravity oil stoves are great. I've got a napoleon. They're very efficient and simple.

Not as inexpensive as coal, but, they're convenient, and run off #2 heating oil (cheaper than kero).

He likes the stove. They have electric baseboard heat which they only use when they have to. The oil stove does a good job of keeping the downstairs warm and the upstairs "comfortable" for sleeping. Funny thing is his parents have some sort of coal stove which they haven't used in years. I told him to let me take a look at it sometime and see if he can use it at his house. Depending on what the stove turns out to be, if he doesn't want it, I might make his parents an offer.

I posted 2 short videos on YouTube of the Godin 3826 Oil stove burning both off road diesel and kerosene. I also posted a short video of a Franco Belge Le Continental oil stove. It’s the smallest oil stove Franco Belge made and has a blue flame burner as yours..
