Get the flu shot, get the flu ?



Wife worked for 30+ years as a nursing home registered nurse. By NYS health department law she's had to get the flu shot every year and every year she got the flu. Some years more than once.

Every year, all the nursing home patients got the shot, and it was not uncommon that whole floors, or even the entire nursing home had to be closed to visitors because of so many patients getting the flu.

I've never had a flu shot since the first weeks of basic training in 1971 and I only get a mild case about once every 10 to 12 years. For many decades I have been taking vitamins that they've recently started recommending for boosting the immune system to prevent/treat the flu.

My luck finally ran out. Came down with covid last sunday night. Knock wood, I seem to have kept it from my lungs and containing to my throat and GI so far. The pounding headaches are a nice chaser though. I haven't felt this bad since having a bad flu February 1984. Tuesday morning I started the antiviral - I didn't need to lose weight but I certainly now know why people do. As of today I'm just a bit less miserable, watching the grass grow and grow.

How do you know you have covid, and do your eyes hurt?

I used two of the free test kits and the covid lines were bright. Every single joint ached badly and I wore an eye mask and that helped sooth the eyes. My throat was on fire by monday and nothing and I do mean nothing could touch the pain. I followed up the next monday morning with my Dr. The waves of ugliness and malaise keep coming.

I'm out of energy again, gotta lay down!
