I have this stove I’ve been using for 4 years now. It is going to HEAT like you won’t believe.
Load it up with the banking plate and let go for 12 hours.
Mine has the flue out of the top though. Not sure why yours is rear

I just installed my baro. I haven’t used it yet im curious how much difference I’ll see.Idlorah wrote: ↑Thu. Jan. 05, 2023 9:01 pm My MCC does great without a baro, I do still want to install one though. I can go up to 24hr tending with the MCC the way it is now. I'm sure with a baro it will be a lot more efficient. I also want to install a baron on my Allen stoker in the basement that is an 8" flue though so i need both a 6" and 8" baro.
I was burning super hot with everything closed off on windy nights.

I think the baro depends a lot on your chimney and the lay of the land around your house. My chimney is a masonry about 40 feet tall. I have good wind breaks around the house. I have never used one, only closed up the air a little on windy days. My stove is similar to yours.

I have around 25’ triple wall and 8 single pretty straight. Lots of wind up on a hill very open. Some nights I had everything closed as tight as I could and I was getting worried.
The coal was burning very patchy too because air was finding its way through strange paths.

Steady temp and no ups and downs.

Sadly the mcc caused me a house fire back at the end of April and it may not go back in the house. I believe the clay thimble in the wall cracked and caught the wall on fire. It's been a busy few weeks but we were finally able to get back into living in the house.

Yes I was, wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary. Was just idling it along checked it before bed and about an hour later wife woke up because of smoke in the house and the wall between the chimney and house was on fire and the stove was COOKING I believe the thimble cracked and gave the fire all the air it wanted.

Real sorry to see that, Aaron. What a shame. Good thing that your wife woke up. Best luck with getting back to normal.

Im glad nobody was hurt but thats awful. Was there creosote involved too or just the high heat from the coal stove?
Hope your life gets back to normal soon.

Boy, what a close call! Thank goodness no one got hurt and the house is still standing. I am surprised the flue gasses from that stove were hot enough to start a fire, but clearly it happened.
Do you have smoke detectors in the house? If you only have one or two (like many older homes) this is a good opportunity to install some hard wired units.
