I need to retire

I worked in some crazy industries and got to put in some crazy time instead of going home (thee weeks on/three weeks on) and from managed to retire kind of early. It was okay at first but then got really old.

It was really lonely to be honest with you.

Then I got cancer and for 4 of the 6 years I was retired, I could barely pick my head off the pillow. From that I got a new appreciation for working. Granted it’s different not having to work, but I will never retire again. I do not need to work 100 hours a week granted, but having that weekly income, and having somewhere to go in a routine has amazing benefits. My wife feels likewise.

Best wishes in whatever you do of course, but there are drawbacks to everything. A lot of people rush to retirement not realizing they actually like working.

I'm doing what I can to make sure that doesn't happen. I have job offers out in Wyoming, but I'm kind of liking the possibility of working weekends, and not working during the week.
The "plan" is to enjoy nothing for at least a month as I get busy work projects set up (gardening, woodworking, welding, etc) in addition to my playing projects.

Oh, and 207 days left until I hit 59 1/2.

When I got near retirement age, I was being asked what I would do when retired. Since I enjoy my work, I told them probably doing what I do now but not getting paid for it.

So, since I own the company and work on my home property, I cut back my hours, stopped taking on the big jobs and only work when I want.

I drove through Wordland, Wy. and if you are anywhere near where 90 crosses into Wisconsin from Illinois I was there a week before.

Look familiar? If I recall there was about 3 tunnels like this separated by half a mile or so but I may be wrong. Pretty sure there was a pretty significant waterway to the right.




After leaving Mt. Rushmore I headed a little northwest and stayed in place called Sundance. The next morning I was at Devils Tower very early. From there across 90 and then that side road that would of taken me to Wordland. From there southwest and then hooked right to go northwest and stayed in a place called Dubois that night. Somewhere between Devils Tower and Dubois is where that picture was taken and I think it was between 90 and Wordland. From Dubois I entered the Grand Tetons/Yellowstone.

The motel I stayed at in Dubois had a gun store, this was the sign on the door.

Wind River Canyon! Beautiful drive, as is the Ten Sleep canyon you drove through on 16 from Buffalo.
