I guess they use sheep here. Its not to make money, its because the panels are so hard to mow around. Maybe you could call that saving money then. If it was economical to plant crops between them on prime land they would.

What Ive seen and heard on farm shows is farmers dont want to plant between them. Its too expensive to do repairs when they hit them and takes a lot more time as they have to go so slow. And some will be shaded. So sheep it is. That makes more sense anyway.

I couldnt open the 1st link, its my pute running slow, not your fault, but I still call BS to growing food between panels. Give me a bit and I'll add a post showing why, at least in my location. But the farm news I hear and watch is real farmers from the whole country and they want no part of it as I have spelled out already. Im sure there are exceptions, and idiots too.

The 2nd link was interesting. It makes sense for China for a variety of reasons. I will never believe the figures they release as true but thats ok.

Found my pic. These are the panels going up near me on an almost square mile solar farm. The panels will tilt with the sun I think, but maybe not. Look at how close the panel rows are and the size of the panels. If they are all facing straight up how would you plant crops between them? Even if the panels were verticle there is not room to farm between them. How would they grow without sun? And why would they space the panels so that they could grow crops between them? There is no reason to do it, none that I can think of.

They would be so much better to space the panels close like these, use less land for the solar farm, and plant crops on the acres they didnt put panels on. Better land use that way.

OK, just leaving the option open that there could be a reason for them to space the panels further apart, why would they do that just to grow crops? It just doesnt make sense to me why they would. Put them closer and then plant on the open land left over makes more sense.
