Thats really sad K-2. Volume could have something to do with my prices as he brings in a lot of semi loads every year. I dont think he has much markup either as he is serving an Amish community, or maybe 2 of them. It is far from being his main income.

Was going to order 5 tons of coal this year, nut for the hand fired and rice for the stoker. Living in Delaware and using bagged coal, I'm not paying $625 a ton and a delivery charge. Going to go back to burning wood for $235 a cord in the DS Comfort max 75. The price did come down $25 from last year for the coal.

I think sadly like inflation it will not be dropping in price much as more and more gets exported.

I think prices will come down when the war in the Ukraine finally ends. Most of the anthracite coal is going to Europe. I still have a ton of rice coal for the stoker, but won't use it unless it gets really cold. I burned the last of my nut coal last year. I good thing is that the Comfort max burns wood really well. I would hate to spend the money on a new wood stove. If I did I would get a Blaze King or a Kuma. Time will tell.

Full cord at $235, I assume? How much do you use?

The coal will still go to europe. Ukraine is a wasteland now.

I will order 3 cords, but I figured I will use about 2 cords. I redid the house about 9 years ago, rockwool insulation, high R value (I was a boilermaker) drywall, roof and windows. House is 1500 sq. ft. first floor and basement. The stoves are in the basement next to one another the stove pipe is interchangeable between the two. I usually use 1 1/2 ton of coal or less, depending on the weather.

At Sherman this morning. 200 a ton. Still full of fines like last year. Getting from breaker not much better than from pile.

Little birdie said WeeHigh has a summer sale price. Alot cheaper than last year's price.

The other place says Blackjack was sold to an investment group. Good or Bad.

Son of a BITCH!!!

That CAN'T be good news. If I were a betting man, I'd wager Blackrock, or some other America-hating leftist billionaire outfit is behind that one. Another backhanded way of taking out the coal industry.

Quote me on this so when it happens, you can say I called that one ....

They, like most big companies that bought out former American powerhouse outdoor power equipment companies, will take a once great company and dismantle it piece by piece right in front of our eyes by selling an inferior product, and pricing it very high. Then the company will file bankruptcy, sell off all the assets, pocket all the cash, and just the name will remain in the ether as a sad reminder of what once had been. One less choice for consumers, and the remaining companies jack up their prices due to increased demand. BOHICA!!

They just can't wait to screw us every friggin possible direction - heating, cooling, driving, home ownership, recreation ... you name it!! It's all going straight to hell on a greased lead sled!!
