A battery is a device to store potential energy for use when needed...

It can be stored in many ways ... Chemical ,mechanical, or heat and many other ways...

Gravity is one way that needs exploration...

It uses cheap materials and obsolete mine shafts so low infrastructure costs...

Can be used where water is scarce and land is flat....

Can go to full power in < 1 second and stopped relatively quickly...
