They are in the first stages of building a prototype as I'm writing this, did you miss the link to the article or are you just trying to ignore it? You seem unwilling to accept there is potentially something far better on the horizon.

There is certainly a limited supply. They have been able to extend reserves through new technology. e.g. they pump water into existing wells, fracking, much deeper wells offshore. That said you are correct that we will never run out of it but only because of Peak Oil. As you pump water into wells, go deeper and use other technologies like fracking the energy expense goes up, at some point you hit a threshold where extracting the oil has an energy expense that exceeds the energy in the oil.

Scalable geothermal that can produce electric is going to have the same issue. Here in the US we have another issue becsue the most suitable sites are usually highly protected areas like Yellowstone.

Nuclear is a bad idea with big costs and limited use...

Here's a recent item on the subject...Small nuclear...

Cost will kill it and the lead time will eat them up...

8 hours of solar is all you need if you overbuild ....

Plan your demand and spread the usage out to meet it...

We have enough power now only demand is allowed at

an substainable growth rate during peak hours...

Utilities need peak/off peak rates to encourage more

off peak usage to flatten the duck curve..

ALL CUSTOMERS SHOULD BE ON THESE RATES...

That's a fission reactor Barney. The differences between fusion and fission are night and day. You are not grasping how profound this technology is. It's not matter of if this technology will be used but when it becomes feasible. Once it's feasible it will be mans greatest achievement. 1000 years from now when they are teaching history this will be one of the highlights if not the biggest highlight. Once you can harness this power you are harnessing the power of the sun.

Solar panels, windmills, coal plants, gas plants etc. That all goes away where electric power production is concerned.

This video is six years old but it will explain the technology for you.

I understand fussion ... It has never been done except maybe in a lab..

Many years and costs to be even useable... 10,000X our usage every day

from the sun , get the low hanging fruit first, and still look for better systems...

Not in the 21 century...Why not use the sun a proven source of energy???

The first sentence in the video 2 billion people don't have access to energy...

We all have the sun on the face of the earth... Harvest it !!!!

Barney you are not following along with what I have been posting. You can build a fusion device in your basement with the right materials and skill. They call them "fusors". It's technology that has been around for quite some time.

https://fusor.net/board/

Once again as I need to make this clear, you can't do this for any practical reason. Point is you can do it. There is a lot of hurdles to overcome but this is the future of energy production.

Why not use the sun a proven source of energy???
Surely, but in this case you are building the star on earth. You are harnessing the source, keyword being harnessing.

my sons daily production granted he has timed space for multiple arrays the panels are becoming more productive

its a resource we certainly need to take advantage of to its fullest extent

I am all in for fusion but all the articles I have read said it is along ways off before it becomes practical. What is the timeline you are seeing Richard?

I have no idea. To my understanding from conversations on that forum and some direct conversations with the people involved they need a breakthrough, something new. I don't know if it's a great analogy but from my understanding they can build fire, no one has figured out the fireplace yet.

There is a lot of energy required to start the reaction, the key is building a machine that can sustain it on it's own.
https://www.llnl.gov/article/49301/shot-ages-fusi ... feats-21st

“Last week, at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in California, scientists at the National Ignition Facility achieved fusion ignition — creating more energy from fusion reactions than the energy used to start the process,” said DOE Secretary Jennifer M. Granholm. “It's the first time it has ever been done in a laboratory anywhere in the world — simply put, this is one of the most impressive scientific feats of the 21st century.”

Just think about the lawsuit oil companies face ... When sued for pollution of the air...

Hundreds of trillion dollars... 150 years of pollution...

How do you build an electric car, solar panel or wind turbine without oil?

We need oil for many uses.... But not to burn as fuel...

That's the worse possible use... When we have 10,000 years of energy...

Each day for eternity... Maybe 100 years ago they had no choice...

But now the choice is clear... Fossil fuel should not be burned and all pollution

involved with it...We now know better...We have the facts and they are clear...

https://www.hsph.harvard.edu/news/press-releases/ ... er-sources

These are related to all fossil fuel burning...As they all release the same pollutants...
