In my area the variable rate direct from the utility company almost always works out to be the cheapest long term. Every fixed term plan I have seen advertised in my area has turned out to be more expensive. We might be a bit unique due to the amount of hydro power in the grid.

If we stay with the utility company, PPL in my case, we get a fixed rate plan usually a couple cents more than the best alternative plan. A large part of ours is NG generated now and took a huge jump when the Ukraine thing started.

In that article it says the last 3 Presidents went along with exporting our energy. We should go back to keeping it here. This is why when I hear " Drill Baby Drill " I say " Not In My Back Yard".

Should help the huge trade deficit we have but not by that much. Oil and gas are some of the few things we still produce here that the rest of the world wants and needs. Along with coal. Not much else. And not very hi-tech.

Yeah that was my intention but I did not want to talk to a salesperson. Also they might be the ones spamming my texts with "you must call by the end of the day". I was with them once or twice before. I usually switch to a longer term/ higher rate plan in the summer months when my bills are low then switch to a cheapy plan for the shoulder months when I use electric heat.
