I guess if you look at it that way, then you "only" lost 2%etc on that money. Better than in the coffee can under the geranium.mozz wrote: ↑Tue. Would you rather have a few hundred extra every month? Doesn't matter you are losing the race with inflation, I'd still take the extra money.
CD rates are back up to decent % - 4.85% for 1 yr

I am comparing the CD to inflation. But yes bankrates are next to nothing. Even worse when compared to inflation,. Either way 5% is still a loser compared to inflation, this past year anyway.

If you limit your spending you limit your exposure to inflation and also help cool inflation. An example is not buying ammo when it's at it's highest. That only reduces availability and raises prices. Basic economics I think they stopped teaching in school.

But, but, but I only have 5 thousand rounds. That's not enough for the coming civil war. On second thought, maybe I should just send it to the Ukraine.

Im not buying any ammo but if your buying a house a lot depends if you have one to sell. If not, your going to have a hard time. In some areas even professionals can not afford to be first time home buyers. But this is also affected by flooding the country with millions of new people every year and not just by the falling value of the dollar,so supply and demand in that case. Some types of heating fuel can be stocked up at lower prices. Others cannot.

I have yet to see it...I expect that Wick decides to open a doggie day care. Then a hoolum burns it down, killing 35 dogs. Mayhem ensues.

There was a time when things were somewhat normal and people funded their retirement on investment earnings of 5 to 15% annually. That all went away with ZERO interest rates. Peolpe were then forced into the stock market to create the over priced bubble were now enjoying. The Govt can never again allow 10% plus interest rates. The interest on the 32 trillion debt would bury us all.
