yeah, im going to have to look into this manometer...i just wouldnt have the slighest clue how to use it!! lol but i always keep my hopper full tbh, and like sometimes the coal is damp when i pour it in cause its like always raining by me for some reason no idea why its annoying. but ill def look into this manometer cause everyone keeps saying it!!nepacoal wrote: ↑Mon. A manometer would be the next logical thing to get so you can check your draft to see what it's doing at the start of a heat call and at idle. On a stoker it's inserted into the stove to check and set over fire air (set after a long run so the chimney is up to temp). I use a magnehelic I found on ebay for $25. The Dwyer mark II 25 is another popular choice here.
Maybe the wet load of coal caused a short term anomaly. Wet coal causes most of the stoker problems we see.
I didn't think to ask, but you do keep your hopper on the full side, right? Letting it get real low could possibly cause it to leak exhaust as the fan first turns on.

You could bump up your barometric damper to -.05 to give yourself a little more cushion with your draft. Probably a good idea until you get the manometer set up.

Yes, the bar for the hinge should be level.

In this screenshot, they are labeled as pivot points. You want those level with each other.

I don't have the Koker, but do have the Kaa-2 boiler. Without looking, and going by memory, it seems the over fire draft is -.02, and chimney pipe was -.o3, or maybe -.o4. If me, I'd consider lowering your over fire to -.02, rather than upping chimney draft. Remember, the fan is forcing air through the coal fire. You are not depending on chimney draw to pull air through the coal bed. Speaking of combustion fan forcing air through the fire, that could also be the culprit. Too much positive pressure from combustion fan. Try cutting off the combustion air a little, which is how you adjust the over fire air flow anyways. Cut off combustion air just enough till smell goes away.

The combustion fan has a plate over the intake. You’ll see it under the pusher bar assembly. I’ll put a pic here. My advice, don’t mess with combustion air until you know your draft. Without an accurate draft measurement this is all guessing.
Here is my manometer mounted on the wall. I have direct vent not a chimney, but it will measure draft no matter what.
Finally, if you go to the Keystoker website they have helpful videos and manuals. Trust me it is a learning curve. We bought our house in 2017 with the koker all ready there. I had no clue how to run it. Haha.-

Switch your hose to the other side of the mano, way easier to read.Eab91276 wrote: ↑Thu. Jan. 26, 2023 8:16 pmThe combustion fan has a plate over the intake. He'd be safe to close it a little. Enough till smell goes away. But surely would not want to open it ANY without knowing draft. I see some have a rivit from factory setting the air. The rivit would need drilling out. My Kaa-2 was not rivited from factory.Eab91276 wrote: ↑Thu. Jan. 26, 2023 8:16 pmThe combustion fan has a plate over the intake.
