I watched an episode of This Old House once where they pulled a plug like screed up the chimney spreading mortar along the way, filling joints and leaving behind a skim coat. I would trust this over a SS liner.

Hopefully someone from the cities see's this post and answers who they get to do stuff. Not many people have posted from our state. I do everything myself so have no recommendations on a sweep or builder other than the place in WI to call. There wont be anyone local that knows anything about chimneys and coal even if they say they do. Trust the advice here over a local person to do with coal knowledge.

hi everyone,
Ok i did fix and try my old coal stove and it's working.
now i have to put a flue pipe in My chimney. i don't how it's working on your side, but here in France, the flue pipe must bé install by à professional in order to be covered by insurance in case of....

but here professionals are so much expensive and some of them are clearly lying and making prices up.

so... i was wondering... if i do install flue pipe by myself, and if i do à chimney sweep let's say every 3 months by myself there should be no danger right?

Always some sort of danger. Just need to minimize it. Pics of set-up?

Wait, you guys get soot from burning coal?

I use coal to burn out the soot I get from burning wood... but I am using an OWB so maybe things are different for me.

Bituminous coal will make soot. Anthracite makes a little fly ash.

Bon Jour mon ami,

Is your coal stove a PETIT GODIN?

You must have a reputable stove installer do this to prevent any problems and also have your chimney inspected by a reputable chimney sweep.

You also need a manometer to monitor the chimney draft as well.

Where is your coal coming from-the Nord-de Pas Calais mining region or Germany?

hey! no that's a calorifere ciney 102 from 1940. coming from Belgium, but i got it from someone in my county side who was keeping it in the garage.

well i looked on the Forum and people use to say that if the chimney is masonry chimney then there is no need any liner and, i have this kind of chimney... so... i'm gonna clean it before all the rest.

and otherwise i will put à 3.14" pipe liner 904L if needed Coz my back collar is 3.14"...

i did contact some but prices are too expensive and they don't use the right material or size, they want to put 316 steanless pipe of 6"....

Oiu!! Mon Dieu,

No stainless steel,

Be sure to put the new stove pipe over the flue breech not in it.

JUST BE VERY SURE to have good up to date very noisy
carbon monoxide detectors in the home in several places
including the bedroom!

MON AMI, did you put a work light inside the firebox late at night
and turn the lights off in the living room to see if there were
any cracks in the fire box walls?

If you see any light coming through cracks in the walls of the firebox
or at the seams the little stove must go to the steel mill ;;;;^0

(breech is female or mâle?)
i have 2 carbon monoxyde detectors al ready.
the parents of before owner were heating with coal.
there is no cracks anywhere i sealed back everything, and check every where with light.
