With 10,000 pounds per square inch of compression that would probably work.waytomany?s wrote: ↑Thu. Dec. 29, 2022 4:33 pm CN has a large pile of horse crap and sawdust. I don't know if that's part of the recipe.
Phurnacite or other compounded smokeless fuels

Where do Amish get their coal ?Shaun643 wrote: ↑Wed. Dec. 28, 2022 6:30 pm I am not in coal country. I live in Michigan no stores around me sell coal. I did have a dealer about an hour from me that sold hitzer stoves and sold coal. They no longer sell any coal stuff. I get my coal from my local Amish community. He gets semi loads of pallets at a time from PA

Compacted fuels like briquettes are made using dry crushed charcoal and fed into a ring briquetter that pulls the metered amount of material down into the forming rings on the briquetting press, compacted together and then ejected as finished.
products.
Flywheel compactors compact dried material using the weight and energy of the rotating flywheels round plunger to push the material through the die to its finished form.
Hydraulic press compactors are simular in that they push a given amount of material that has been metered into the chamber where it is compressed and then drops out.
The chinese use a hydraulic compactor for their cooking stoves that employs a circular die with multiple rods around the perimeter of the coal block that form air passages for the combustion air to pass through to burn the coal.
The bottom of the open die has a hydraulically operated door that seals the chamber and the coal fines are dumped in the hopper where they fill the die to the point where they have overfilled it and the hydraulic press is activated and compacts the coal fines and then the bottom door opens and the coal block drops out and is either taken away by a conveyor or by manual labor.
The stoves are designed so that you can put one block of coal on top of the other lining up the holes to create a chimney effect to burn the coal blocks.
They can stack several of these blocks on top of each other to heat the home and hot water they need.
I think I have posted links to the youtube videos showing these coal block making machines in the past.

Waste anthracite coal is a big part of concocted smokeless coal briquettes. Once upon a time CHESTNUT was the smallest size coal in the US...that leaves a lot of waste coal smaller than NUT.
Like remember there was a time when there were NO stoker fed appliances. Stokers were invented to use more waste coal...we call it PEA, RICE and BARLEY coal today.
No Stokers in the UK??? Hmmm, that would leave a lot of waste eh!
Small anthracite or fines are used in water treatment plants for residential water supply companies. These many tons of fines are replaced after some time of use period...and it all gets tossed over a hill. Some enterprise might some day find a way to resell it in another burnable form.
