How does the lintel attach to the door frame top in the 3726 stove? I thought that there are 2 screws that hold it in place. If so, shouldn’t there be 2 holes drilled into the top of the door frame for the lintel screws? Am I overlooking something obvious?

Hi Franco.. The picture below is from a Godin oval stove in which the lintel was damaged. It was held in place by 2 screws that went through the top frame as seen in the picture..

Why I’m confused is that my other oval looks like it’s been barely used so a warped or damaged lintel is unlikely… yet It doesn’t have a lintel nor does it have holes in the frame for mounting one. If I wanted to add one I would have to drill holes to mount it. Is it possible that some versions of the Godin oval did not use a lintel?

Here's a pic you posted a while ago franco. I see screws on the sides and on top. Maybe there were a few versions?

Hi Franco, the lintel attaches to the enameled frame piece with the hook from the back. It protects that hook piece from warping and burning out by preventing direct contact with glowing hot coal pieces. The lintel will eventually burn out after a while. If you look at the picture of the oval stove lintel below you don’t need Captain Obvious to tell you that the holes of the lintel line up with the holes of the “hook frame”. However my brown Godin oval doesn’t have any holes in the “hook frame” nor does it have a lintel. I’m confused because one stove has holes in the frame which were used to mount a lintel (albeit warped and needing replacement ) but the other one does not have any mounting holes in the “hook frame” nor does it have a lintel. That stove looks like it was barely used and certainly doesn’t appear that it destroyed its lintel from being used a lot. I’m wondering if at one point Godin stopped using lintels in their oval stoves. There doesn’t appear to be much information about this other than the online English version of the Godin manual that has an exploded view of the various Godin coal stoves showing the various parts used in the stoves. The English Godin manual exploded view diagram and spec sheet shows a lintel, a 5” flue pipe fitting and an oval burn grate. That is how my old Godin Oval is made… no mystery there. However my new brown Godin Oval has a 4” flue pipe, a rotating round grate that is similar to a Godin Round stove grate and has no lintel or holes in the “hook frame” to support one. That is why I’m confused. It is not what is indicated by the Godin English manual. That is why I posted pictures of it in a previous post. It’s a weird variant of sorts and information about it is scarce. That’s why I was wondering if it ever had a lintel..

Without mounting holes it never had one. Four inch smoke pipe would be unique also. The models with the oval grate appear to have the lintel you refer to.
