Get rid of the duct tape, clean up the tape glue with alcohol, wipe dry with paper towel & then use GE silicone on the collar.
Did this with mine & never had any leaks.
Jim
Duct tape is temporary until the weather breaks. Wanted to see if that was where the water was getting in. Good advice though, thanks!

I had a chance to address my chimney leak. I bought another storm collar, wasn’t happy with the fit of the original. Different brand this time. The collar came right off, silicone barely held! This time I used roofing tar, which I was going to use the first time. We had some solid rain Sunday and today, chimney is bone dry!!!

Oh boy, I had some birds hanging out in my chimney cap the last few weeks. My cats have been on high alert!!! I rigged up some wire mesh to keep them out. That’s all I need is a nest in there come October.

I have something in my chimney scratching the cleanout door. I don't have the nerve to open it.

I also had a mystery guest last week. Guess I'll find out when I clean out the "T" next spring. :|

use sikkiflex 221 a polyurethene sealant sealer for the collar type arrangement .It doesn't seperate like silicone. it gets sort of hard but doesnt get hard stays soft enough to flex as you can put a fingernail in it

I had some time to work on my hearth a bit more. I got it covered in cement board. Hopefully I can get the stone ordered this week and get a jump on that. Coming along. Fall will be here before you know it, the days are already getting shorter!!

Here you go. The hearth took a while and was a lot of work, but very rewarding. Everything just seems to fit together nicely. Tons of compliments which makes me feel good!!

Thanks! Wow, that is one beautiful coal stove! Jealous. I have a very modern and boring looking TLC2000. I like the flexibility of being able to burn wood or coal but have always been underwhelmed by its aesthetics. Nice setup good luck with it. You should post a pic of it with a lit coal bed in it. ;)
