I wasn't sure I could get coal when I bought my stove used, so I had to plan for wood burning as well. Glad I did, even though the only wood I've burned since finding coal was to start my fires last season and this. Being I'm farther west than most here on the forum, but not the furthest, I also had to consider the cost of coal going up as well as fuel oil, and since I have a wood lot the decision for a wood/coal stove is a no-brainer. I can also heat electrically, and via propane and kerosene. So I have 6 ways to heat my home if any method sky-rockets in cost on me, then I am flexible. That is not a choice, it is a necessity for me.
