Could anyone recommend a good polish to use on the nickel plating on this stove? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Wenol ... Mothers wheel polish ... Never-dull ... Meguiar’s has several metal polish’s, Collinite metal polish and wax ... these are are automotive style wheel and chrome polished that may work, but I am hesitant to suggest them for stove use because I have no experience with any of these on a stove.

Maybe some of our antique guru’s can confirm or deny use of these.

Bill,

Yeah I agree. I would be worried about the chemical burn off with auto polish.

I've been using Turtle wax brand chrome cleaner and then seal the nickle with regular Turtle wax. No problems.

Mothers always worked well even on Harley exhaust pipes.

I’ve just polished my nickel on my baseburner with Autosol, and it looks good , but it has started to dull slightly, so is the idea to seal in the shine after polishing with Autosol , mothers etc , with a good quality car wax ? Will the heat not effect the wax ?

Ha ha Fred , Yeah Autosol is a polish I used to use back in the day when I was a youth to clean my chrome on my motorbike. Cleans chrome on my bike really well , but just as another member said he sealed the finish with car wax ? Thought car wax’s had some ingredients that we’re flammable? Anyway if you can seal your stove nickel with car wax sure would save a lot of elbow grease 👍.

Simichrome also does a nice job on nickel.

I have a bottle of Collinite 845 wax I use for my car , this is what I was thinking of using on my nickel after I have polished it with Autosol.

If your wax job is "flammable", you used too much wax and not enough polishing cloth. :D
