Sorta like them sour grapes out of reach, if you won't reach out or ever let yourself try anything new then new is always going to not ever be better. This goes for many new techs in our ever progressing tech world...wash, rinse, repeat..

Does this mean the S130 is officially decommissioned?

Did you remove your electric boiler also?

We're going on about 5 years of use now, and our induction range is working fantastically. I have to agree with my wife, that I wouldn't ever want a gas range again.

We switched from gas to an induction range around 2013 & were very happy with it until several circuit boards fried about 15 months ago. No issues until one day we smelled a nasty burnt smell & nothing worked. Replacement cost of the boards from GE was around $1000 just for parts. Couldn't find anything used on Ebay as this isn't an uncommon issue after 5-6 years. Bought a nice Samsung gas range for the cost of the boards & hauled the Induction range to the landfill.
A friend of mine recently had the same thing happen with their induction range for the second time. He also now has a nice new gas range.

The only board in my new range is the main control panel & replacements are $150 if it ever dies.

Yes, I'll be offering the S130 up for sale shortly, along with lots of accessories. We did remove the electric resistance boiler as well. And also an old electric HWT that was not used in more than 8 years. The NG boiler is located nigh on right where the resistance boiler was hanging originally.

I wish they had mounted your expansion tank differently. If you ever want to use that chimney for something it is going to be very close to the flue pipe.

Agreed. I cringed a bit when I saw that.

Easy fix - ask them to extend the pipe and mount the expansion tank closer to the floor.

They have already packed up and left. If I ever see a need I'll know what needs done.

Fair enough. Has the temperature of your basement changed much since the S130 went offline?

Technically it wasn't in my basement, but rather in room of its own. But it was open to the basement, which feels a bit cooler now. The basement is actually working off the thermostat now. It used to be that between occasional heat dumps and the heat off the boiler it was plenty warm, and probably didn't even need a T-Stat.

It sits within the much colder garage half of the basement. Opening it up to the finished basement side more than it is presently opened will cost me energy. Now that I have a boiler which draws its air from the outside, I can actually close it off. But I'm not sure of the legalities involved, as with all previous heat appliances sans the resistance boiler (meaning the oil boiler and the coal boiler) there was a requirement for supply air which our finished basement satisfied. If I do close it off I may need to put a small cast iron radiator in it.

Funny, no one even batted an eyelash at this....after I was told how out of touch with modern improvements I am......

Highly tentative cubic feet (Cu_Ft) of natural gas consumption formula for our home (based upon 4 days of NG data):

(12.3 Cu_Ft/HDD x Days_HDD's) + 25 Cu_Ft/Day (for DHW) = Days Estimated Cu_Ft of NG Consumed
