Son’s koker

So he never cleaned it from last year, we were looking at it to change the flue from power vent to the chimney,we found a steel plate on top of the coal at the back of the grate. Anybody know what it is and where it goes?

Sounds like the plate that is screwed up under the throat area. It sets the height of the coal being pushed through.

That’s what I was thinking. Do I need to pull the stoker out to fix it?

Check out page 2 of this thread... Shows some good pictures. It's a smaller stoker than the Koker, but it has the same parts. And yes, I believe you must pull the stoker to get to the screws

If you don't clean these steel stoves at the end of the season they will self destruct pretty quickly in humid summers. They need to be cleaned and oiled to get years of service. Just sayin'

What make/model?

It’s a keystoker koker 160 I believe. Last year was having co problems in warm weather, even with power vent turned up just shut it down.

That a good size stoker, did you have a draft gauge to monitor how well the power vent was working and have it adjusted properly. Without a draft gauge, you can't adjust draft properly. if you had CO issues, it probably wasn't pulling enough draft or you need to check gaskets on the stove. Sometimes you have to run it a bit warmer in warmer weather to keep draft going, or if you have a plate or speed adjustment on the power vent, needs to be opened up a bit or more speed.

He got a Dwyer after the fact, we’re going to install and go to the chimney. He lives in a hollow to doesn’t help matters

Pulled the stoker out and replaced the plate, abandoned the power vent and hooked up the mono. All looks good w
