I built a three sided block retaining wall on a concrete slab. The slab cost me around $700 and the split face block I got for free.
Had help with the slab but set the block myself
22 tons will get me through two heating seasons as i heat my house and my shop which is around 1000sf

Picked up 6 tons of Lehigh rice for $204.00/ton. It's from a farm store less than 10 miles from my home. I have a 10K dump trailer so a could drive to Lehigh and save about 40 bucks a ton but I'd have to make 2 trips and the time, wear and tear on the truck I just decided to pay the premium and be glad I can get Lehigh locally.

Tractor Supply got their's in for $6.24 a bag ($324.50 ton) The store is only 3 miles from the house and I'm hand loading in living room so this is a great convenience.

$375 for 1 ton of bagged Lehigh rice coal, plus $70 delivery fee. I guess that's the price I paid for laziness; too lazy to shop around for a better price, too lazy to pick it up, too lazy to build a coal bin for cheaper loose coal

If I pick it up it's $325 - 350 a ton here in Northern ME. TS had that Black Friday sale that brought it down to $250.
There are few coal suppliers so competition is almost always with other fuels. There's no natural gas infrastructure.
Keep saying this but those big box stores have a lot of seasonal retail space that sits idle in winter. They ought to bring in a truck load of coal and start some competition. Coal beats the pants off wood and pellets and it's cheaper than #2. Folks up here could use the break......build the market and they will come.

I just picked up a ton of loose rice yesterday.
I got a hopper over the summer and made the switch from bagged to bulk.
First purchase was one ton bulk for $250.
No delivery since I hauled it myself.
I'm in SW PA in Washington County.
Bagged went up to $315, so I'm saving $65 a ton.
