I haven't seen something like this since IR closed in P'burg/Easton. Started out pulling chips to the yard on the Rock Drill floor. Great stuff to see - thanks!

apparently not the largest press out there...
But impressive enough...

We did some of that repair work.

Alcoa just bought two smaller presses. They were installed the other week, when they had a shut down.

Update.

Got a little more turned. Still in roughing stage.

We ran into trouble yesterday. Spindle bearing went bad from all that weight.
Being over capacity didn't help one bit.

Might be broke down for a couple weeks.

Doubt it since he's still roughing it out.

Looking good Art but you still have a ways to go!!
Get some new bearings in that spindle and you'll be on your way!!
Now I have to ask if your just roughing it out for a CNC machine or are you going to finish it?

Will finish on that machine, if bearings are still available and decent price.

I shudder to think what "decent price" means with a lathe like that monster. That bearing likely costs more than my whole lathe did new. :o

That's an amazing job, Artie.

I might not have to help fix the lathe.

Got a job interview in Canada to go to.
36.28 an hour Canadian or 47.92 American.

In the Aero-Space industry.

That's great, Artie. But the real questions is,..... do they have coal to go along with those long winters ?

Don't bother hauling all your stoves way up there.

Drop them off at George and Panama's.

Nice Art, If the job isn't to far North you could always commute! when I worked weekend dayshift(Friday, Saturday ,and Sunday) my night guy lived in St Catherines Ontario but had an apartment 1/8 mile from the shop in Cleveland, He would drive up Friday to work , stay two days in the apartment then drive home on Monday morning.
Not to go political but thats the only thing I will thank Obama for, he drove a *censored* load of manufacturing jobs away and the people that are able to do them and now that the jobs are in demand so are the people that can do them!! We are reaping the dividends from this  ( not to go into details I have had a 38% pay increase in the last 2 years plus much better health care coverage and 401K company contributions! Hell If my surgical nurse cousin ever saw my pay rate she would jump off the nearest bridge. :D ) Good luck to you and don't cut your self short!!

Will need a work visa, that might take six months. Not sure what relocation package is offered yet.
