Went to new Alaska Stove location in Moosic, PA this morning to get a new glass for the door on my Channing 111. The fellow at the store asked if I wanted the glass or stainless steel. He said they were both the same price but the stainless steel one never has to be replaced. He didn't have one in stock but he will order one for me and install it and call when it is ready. I was wondering if anyone has used one of these and how you like it. This is the first time I have heard about the stainless steel option so I thought I would give it a try. I seem to replace the glass about every 5 years

I'd rather have some of that Star Trek transparent aluminum. It's nice to be able to see at a glance what the fire is doing.
