A simple, yet affective change - good job solving the sooty glass problem.

Hard to tell from the glare, but looks like you cut the opening in the load door bigger? and I like the handle you installed.. :)

Yea I did cut it bigger. I wanted to make sure it would work first then when I found out it did I thought heck with it. Cut it up where's it's about 4 inches tall. And thanks I thought that would make a sweet new handle.

It's a mystery to me but here at 4 years later my load door window has cracked. It happened over the summer, I don't know exactly when or why. I'm taking the opportunity to make it bigger. Fortunately the singer in my band also teaches in a machine shop at a school. I took the load door to him and he made a nice rectangular 8.5 × 7 inch hole for a window. I tried mounting the window tonight, but I'm not really satisfied with it yet. I couldn't find the right gasket material to leave a small gap for an air wash. Here's what I've done so far.

The gap at the bottom & top was only from the gasket thickness on the sides keeping the glass away from the door.
This is critical, the glass should not come into contact with the metal.

For my old Harman, the top and bottom of the window has no gasket, only sides get the gasket. This is for airwash that you are looking for.

Your right. The way I have it now is an epic fail lol. I stopped at three different places today looking for thin flat gasket like Qtown posted and found nothing. The only stove shop around here that I know of is the other direction. Probably be easier to just order it online. Thanks for the comments fellas.

I ordered some 1 inch x 1/8 inch flat fiberglass gasket on ebay.
That way I can wrap it right around the edge of the window.

With that nice big new viewing window Lee, your wife will never see you anymore...unless you get the cobwebs out of the cellar. Looks good. Can't wait till light off time.:)

That's a cool mod Lee! Maybe you can figure out a way to mount a video cam on it? This way we could all enjoy live video of your blues after a reload
