I can't afford to fish for swordfish, and now I don't feel too bad about it. I'll stick to the bass if only I have the time.

I would have just jumped overboard.

Better to have them say you just drowned than having this story come out.

Like the guy being on trial for murder...

Prosecutor: Lets talk about your internet browser history now, shall we?

Defendant: I would just like to plead guilty now please.

He would have stood a better chance going one on one with a shark. We always do a deep drop for swords when tuna chunking at night. Even a small one of 50-60 lbs puts up a heck of a fight. And you better wear gloves before grabbing the bill. A few years back a charter captain from Ocean City tried to leader a sword at the boat. He did something wrong and couldn't release the leader. The fish took him over the side and the crew said the last they saw of him he was about 100 feet down and fading out of sight. They said the fish was less than 100 lbs. BTW, they are the best tasting fish in the sea. Fresh caught and properly cared for, that is. I've tried sword steak from a store and couldn't eat it.

This is a small one about 60 lbs that was released. He took a live squid about 300 feet down shortly after midnight. I remember it because it was the first fish caught on the first trip on my friends single diesel inboard which we built here at my place. Three of us onboard, myself, the boat owner, and another friend that had never been offshore.

Beware the adversary that only has one sword.

He probably knows how to use it.

My first wife was a lobsterwoman and so we fished some offshore. I hooked onto a seal one day and it was all I wanted...I cut the line.

We got some nice Tuna over the years too. The biggest lobster we ever caught was a 14 pounder...
