That sure looks like a relative of the Jensen Boilers....with a cross-bred HS Tarm shot thrown in. Straight-forward piping...feed and a return, circ between the two boilers, check valve and increase the size of your expansion tank. (add a BIG hand-full of ball valves and unions)............. I am waiting for the blood to drain from my head...upside down viewing is a bitch! Open the doors and get a well lit pic of the inside grates, ash tray. Bottom line: more pics, and details about what you are adding this boiler into. You might want to pressure check this boiler also. Never hurts, and saves a ton of cash if you find anything out of order.

Looks like a single pass vertical tube boiler.....cousin of the Jensen Line...1972-1985 I think. It should work just fine and looks to be about 100K or less on coal. probably burned small hardwood, also. Is there no damper control? Usually they had Sampson controls that worked very well.......Thanks for fixing the pics.......the dent is slowly returning to normal.......and I have one eyeball pushed back into my skull.....waiting for the pressure reduction for the second one................

Whistlenut ,a I think you should have been a comedian in stead of a construction worker.
Thanks for the fast response I have some more pics here for you and no there is no damper. just a rod with a t on it I am assuming it is for knocking the fly ash off the vertical tubes?
Ok so I would like to know best way to hook it up,I do not use my oil boiler much I might have burned 60 gallons in two years .Is it best to leave it in line like for a cold water dump or something .
My Brain is swollen from all the research!

Oh ya I forgot it has some type of mechanical air draft on the bottom that hooks up to Aquastat

I grew up with a boiler nearly identical to this one in our farm house. We burned MOUNTAINS of firewood in it, sadly I knew nothing about coal at the time and scrapped it in 2007. Nothing special about hooking it up, just remember to wire up a dump zone. Ours had a mechanical Samson draft regulator on the back of the unit, yours appears to have a small blower hooked to an aquastat?

The grates look like they are suitable for burning coal, but if you can source white ash coal (less likely to clinker), that's what I would use.

I think that is a draft control hooked to the aquastat it reads Erie motortrol. What is a dump zone?

A 'dump zone' is a dedicated zone, loop or other hydraulic loading that could dissipate the excess heat in a hydronics unit, should the need become necessary.

Will I need a circulator between the oil and coal boiler or just the one on the oil boiler.

You should have a dedicated circ between the two boilers to maintain equal temps for the loop. Usually set up as a 24/7 wiring, but you could use an aquastat to maintain a minimum temp.
Much easier to keep them at the same temp by constant circulation. It appears that the hand fed boiler is ready to be piped, so you job becomes much easier.

If I have the return from the system go into coal boiler then out of the coal boiler into the return of oil boiler. Then disconnect the oil boilers burner will everything work thermostat and ect off the oil boiler still.also I have 1 circulator on the oil boiler that goes to the return side. That will have to be removed I think and reconfigured??So if my return goes Into the coal stove do I want a circulator before it goes in. Where does the circulator go for the 24/7 run. Here are some pics of progress.
