i was doing a pre start check -up for fall and found my gearbox to be low on oil . I was wondering what viscosity the oil in the gearbox was, and to what level to fill the gearbox? dan

Keystoker said they use an 80-90 gear oil like you would put in a rear end of a car or truck, of course there are not many cars out there like that anymore but 80W-90 gear oil is easy to find. You do not fill the gear case. If the shaft is halfway in oil that should be plenty. I think Don at Keystoker said about half full or something like that. If you want to be sure give them a call.

Hey Dan! Gaw hit the nail on the head. 90W oil and 3/4 full is what the rep at Keystoker told me last fall. By the way, it was good to see you the other day. :D

hey gaw thanks for the info about the gear oil level and viscosity. It's nice to post a question on this forum and receive valuable info. Hey bob, the invite is still there to visit , will show you the magnahelic guage I use instead of a manometer. The cost was $15, included the guage and fittings for the leftover copper tubing for refrigerator ice dispenser .
