New use for the stove

I do some metalwork and was working a piece of copper that was 0.150 thick x 1” wide x 12” long. I was needing to anneal the copper (heat then quench it to make it soft/workable). Broke out the torch, fired it up to heat the copper then stopped. Hey why not just put it in the coal stove…Sometimes I guess I can be a little slow.

Anyway it worked like a charm so…FYI, should anyone need similar!

Sometimes I stick metal in the coal fire. It doesn't take long to for the metal to turn red, then orange.

I used to heat steel in my hand fed furnace for bending. I baked some potatoes up on the interior baffle plate too 😆
