Hand Fed Coal Stove: WESO HSK125C
Other Heating: Oil-fired hot water boiler

One reads on the forum about welded-in or cast components being warped, eroded, cracked etc. If such weak areas of a certain stove model are identified, is it possible to create a sacrificial refractory panel to shield that part or area from excessive heat or abrasion. That way one could protect that area from the beginning and avoid difficult, expensive or PITA repairs. God forbid you have an irreplaceable part or lose your heat source in the middle of the heating season. They put ceramic replaceable heat shields on the space shuttle for re-entry.

I plan on doing the same thing on my existing boiler. 1/4” over the fire brick that is showing damage from Bit Coal that I have been messing with in my soon to be gone wood boiler.
If given the chance ( more cold weather) here in Wi. I’ll try and remember to post back.
