Hey guys I'm in the process of splitting a zone into 2. Currently it is 1 zone controlled with an azel sp-82 2 zone pump controller. The other zone is for radiant heat on lower level.
My question is can I use my existing 2 zone controller and 2 zone valves to split the upper zone together to run the upper level zone pump independently? If that makes sense? And will the 24v transformer built into the pump controller be able to handle the Honeywell zone valves?
Thx

I just did exactly what you are describing. I added a separate 24 transformer for the zone valves, and connected the end switch from both zone values to the thermostat terminals on the circulator relay.

Awesome thanks Rob! What pump control box do you use? You don't think the transformer in there for the thermostats is capable?

My circulator is powered off a Honeywell R845 relay box. I am not sure if there is a way piggyback the zones valves on that transformer or not. I already had an extra transformer so that is what I went with.

24v transformers are pretty inexpensive.
