Good to hear. Hope it does good. Are you going to install a Sampson regulator?

You really need to turn the circulator on top of the boiler horizontal. It probably will only last a year like that. It doesn’t have bearings to run in that position. If you look at the instructions that came with the circulator, it tells you not to install it like that.

My circulator has been vertical for 8 years with zero problems.pintoplumber wrote: ↑Wed. Feb. 19, 2020 9:04 pmYou really need to turn the circulator on top of the boiler horizontal. That is sort of accurate. The installation manuals say if the system pressure is greater than X the circulator can be installed with the motor vertical.
Regardless, unless there is a space constraint you can't change, installing the motor in a horizontal position is preferred.

It's actually 20 psi... From the manual:
"INSTALLATION:
1. Mounting position – Circulator must be mounted with the motor in a horizontal position. It may be mounted vertically with the motor up, provided that the system pressure is at least 20 psi (138 kPa)."

I'm still completely confused by this install. Why are their 2 pumps pulling from supply of the boiler. What's the pump near the expansion tank doing? I understand the idea here of a dump zone, but any zone can be a dump with a high limit aquastat. However this will not work with loss of power

Glad to help out. I just go straight to supplyhouse.com when looking for info... They seem to have manuals and data sheets for everything they carry. Plus great prices when you need something!

Larry I beleive you are not fully aware of what this position is that is being discussed.
Reference to "horizontial" is for the electric motor axis only...not the pump body w/ flanges.
What manufacture is directing is that pump body can be in any orientation allowable by keeping motor to remain horizontal.

Ah, that changes things. Thanks!!!
Sometimes I believe that this can be remedied by unbolting the motor section from the impeller section and rotating it, then putting it back together. But I could be all wet here...
