I would think two capable licensed pros for $800 a day plus materials. About a $1000 would be a good number.

Not trying to argue one way or the other, but my father ran into gouging on a pellet boiler installation because a oil fired boiler is far different then the licensing requirement for a solid fueled boiler here in the State of Maine. So few people here have that certification (or at least at the time) so he was going to be gouged. $7000 was also the quote, but granted it was a new tie in to an oil fired system.
We did it ourselves with a oil burner tech looking over our shoulder, but not officially signing off on the work.

Based on my experience, the price quoted to him is equal to gouging as the boiler controls are the same no matter whether it is a solid fuel or cold start boiler and digital controls are an accident waiting to happen with solid fuel boilers.

Hellosylvesterd101,
If you have not done it already purchase a firebox reducer so you can save money burning coal-the use of a firebox reducer is well proven way to save fuel and also make all your hot water in the off season and summer months without heating up the home as you can have a small fire to heat the home when it gets cooler too.

You can purchase a firebox reducer from your Harman Dealer and if they say?????????????? tell them that the Harman People made them for the boilers before they sold their all boilers, patents and blueprints to AHS.
AND IF THEY STILL SAY??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
You can always do what I did by purchasing a piece of channel iron as wide as the full interior width of the firebox and half its depth and fill it with full size firebrick all the way to the flue breech and half the depth of the firebox and the fire brick will suck up the heat from the coal and then release the heat it captures into the firebox to keep the fire hot all the time when you are burning wood and coal.

Syl,
I have a Harman SF250 fire box reducer. I'll take some pictures of it and write the dimensions. The one you seek should be essentially the same just a little larger. I won't be able to get to it until tomorrow evening though.

Herein are the specs of my firebox reducer for the SF250.
1/4" plate steel 151/2" L by 7" W base plate, firebrick shoulder 1/4" plate steel 151/2" L by 2" H welded setback firebrick depth, and on the front end bottom is a 5/8" plate steel 15" L centered on base plate with (2) 11/4" square plates (same thickness) with the bottom ground half round to accommodate (something?). If you go the custom route I can send closeup picts of dimensions. Hoping the attached picture pulls it all together for you.

Iz,
Was I scammed by Harman? This is what they sold me without any instruction. I place it inside on the grate below the loading door and it seems to work fine. I burn about 30lbs/24 hours with it set up that way through mid December.

They must have changed it snuffy, when I looked at the 130 to replace the Switzer 5 plus years ago they told me the reducer was a box that just sat on the shaker grate frame.
As long as it works and you are toasty warm I would not do anything else.

I am not sure, but I sure hope they use three single aquastats. The fellow Greentech represents the new Harman owners who are AHS or they were anyway and perhaps he could tell you.

Sorry for the lack of activity works been crazy but so far they are installing it oct 15th. Ive removed the oil tank and cleaned up the original coal bin. Right now im trying to figure if i want pea or nut size coal for the ton im gonna order. Ill have to figure out the firebox reducer on my day off. I do have leftover kiln brick i got from work so i might try that and high temp rtv sealant.
