New DS 1100 Boiler
I like to show you my parents new DS 1100. Just fired the unit up today. They are very excited about the unit. Dad has always used wood stoves for years and finally moved him over to coal with a set and forget unit!
The boiler is in their basement and piped into their already existing gas boiler unit.

Rex, congrats on the purchase of the DS boiler!!! I currently run a Harman sf-160 hand fed boiler with pretty good results. However, ifn I had to do it over, it would be the DS. Please keep us posted on your results/ satisfaction. & thx for the pix.

Nice boiler. Those are some big throttles in the bottom.
I have a question about you pressure relief valve. It looks like it has a green tag, they are usually 150PSI, 210 degree units. A boiler pressure relief is 30 PSI and usually has a red tag. You DO NOT want the pressure relief to open at 210 degrees on a boiler. And you DO want it to open if the pressure goes above 30 PSI.

Don't be shy, load her up! It could take 80-100 pounds to load it properly. At shake time you may only need 40 pounds to bring the coal depth up to where it needs to be again.bcdex wrote:Thanks for posting my boiler Travis.
Well first night using it and it went out. Don't know why yet still playing with it.

Don
I just checked the Safety Valve with the green tag and it has another metal tag on the top that reads "535,000 BTU/HR 30 PSI"
Now I don't understand all this, still learning. but that 535,000 BTU/HR 30 PSI can I use it?
Thanks
Bill
