a dealer of ours has been sharing some photos of things he has around from years back. I thought I would share here. This he said was presented to his grandfather in 1948 for years of service.

Very interesting and thanks for sharing, not to mention a thank you to your Grandfather for his hard work and efforts. The more I see today's generation (yes mine) that do not feel like working, the more I appreciate an older generation that did.

A wood and coal stove shop near me, which also has a museum, has hundreds of old salesman's stoves on display as well as for sale. I would love to see some of the older manufacturers see if they had some of these salesman's models of their old stoves and keep them to highlight their heritage.

I am not a coal salesman by any means, but here we have a company that provides seed and fertilizer to farmers. Their nearest plant to me is located 5 hours north in Houlton, Maine, but they have built an empire by being very aggressive on sales. I ordered 2 ton of fertilizer this spring...in bags...and it arrived the next day. "Every ton adds up", they said apologetically. "Call if you want more." I asked them how far they delivered fertilizer too, and they said they go as far as Cape Cod, New England, Quebec and New Brunswick being their normal delivery area, but they will go anywhere.

They are not waiting for anything. If someone calls, they deliver and I wonder if you could do the same. A lot of trucks in Northern, Maine haul potatoes south and coal on their back haul.

Again I am not telling ANYONE what to do, but I have watched Cavendish build an empire in my lifetime just by being aggressive.

Lehigh is already an empire no smoke, and they trucked a tractor load (23.6 tons) of coal to me without a hitch, I simply emailed someone on a Monday, and the following Monday the truck was here at 6 am sharp. I am 6 hours and 375 miles north of them.

We deliver whatever anyone wants. The issue with shipping small amounts is how much someone wants to pay for shipping. It is usually cheaper for someone to buy locally than what they will pay for shipping for a single ton...
