Instead of posting some of the stoves we have in the "Pctures of your stove" thread, I thought I'd post some here.

Is that a PowerBook I see used for development? I was always told that Apples were useless for Scientific and engineering applications. Cheers to you guys for a great product - as well as proving "them" wrong.

Yeah, Neil uses Mac's predominantly. However, Macs were not the sole platform used for development by any means. Most of the software development has taken place on PCs of various flavors. Circuit design and CAD work have been on a mix of hardware. Most, if not all, of our test data acquisition has been done on Neil's powerbook.
Without getting into the details of the two platforms or delving into the religious... Whoever told you Macs are worthless for scientific and engineering purposes was overstating the matter a great deal. If there is an advantage to using PCs it is only found in the generally higher availability of applications on that platform (the natural result of PC's better market share over the past couple decades). And for scientific and engineering disciplines there is a great deal of free and open source software available for many different platforms and higher end apps are also generally available on both platforms. It is more a matter of personal preference and convenience than anything. If one is needing niche or specialty software chances are more favorable to finding the app in PC land than Mac land, but even there one can use PC virtualization software on the Mac as necessary.
I'm a PC guy. I find many things undesirable about the Mac platform, but suitability to sci/eng tasks is certainly not one of them.

What microcontroller chip did you use? If you did your own PCB layout what layout software did you use? I once did things like that for a living.
