Stove Runs Continuously Sometimes

We've had lots of problems and went through 4 stokers in the past 2 years. The one we have now is the same model as the original stove which was used for many years in this house. It's a Combustioneer 77B. Our most recent problem is sometimes it will keep feeding coal even when the house temperature is 5 to 10 degrees above what the thermostat is set at. A guy my wife knows said there should be a switch on the back of the stove that can be set to auto or manual. He told her it should be set to auto but suggested we switch it to manual to see if that helps but I don't see any such switch on the back of the stove. I'm wondering if maybe the thermostat is bad. You guys have been super helpful in the past and I hope you can help now. If you think it could be the thermostat what kind of thermostat do I need to purchase? I know next to nothing about these things. Thanks for any help you can give.

Wiring issue or timer issue, or maybe both...either could cause temps to exceed thermostat set point.

You have an electrician in the family, see if he can sort it out.

He's in jail. Been there over a year now. :(

Bad timer motor, incorrect (excessive) idle on time settings, sticking relay, bad thermostat, too much coke built up in firebox.

My suggestion is too much/too often run time on the timer. Or too much fire in the stove. Also if you have a female that can tamper with (turn up) the thermostat you can overshoot the setpoint for seemingly no reason.
