Getting better.
In the first pic I forgot to mention the flame was going up the flues at times. We've been having a problem with that too.

As of now the temp is barely climbing but it is. I'm just over 130 from 120 a hour ago.

Most of our US members are on the East Coast where it is now midnight.

Hopefully your boiler temp will keep climbing thruout the night until McGiever and others are back online.

I burn strictly anthracite so other than moral support my knowledge on your furnace is limited.

If you are up and about keep posting any information and or pictures that may help.

Paulie

If you are doing that and it is bitter cold outside now you have made a darn good improvement. :D
Legend Outdoor Furnaces
Residential – 300,000 BTU
H: 70” W: 38” L: 87”

Our Legend model 5010 comes complete with stoker and hopper bin. The 28 flues come with spirals that aid in heat transfer by slowing the smoke through the system.

These spirals also act as spark arrestors. The furnace holds 65 gallons of water/glycol mixture. Our furnaces are “open systems” that do not build pressure and come complete with warranty. Please see flyer for details

Ya it's 11 here too and I have to work at 5 so hopefully I don't wake up cold. My dad and I both work shift work at the coal mine here and he's working nights right now. So he can take over when we gets home lol.

It seems to be climbing alittle but I'm sure once our furnices kick on it takes away anything the furnice gained.

Yes that stack is big lol. But what do I know lol.

Hopefully we can get this problem fixed asap. Thanks for all your help so far.

Mac .......According to his introductory post, he is also located just south of Regina, Saskatchewan.

I'm pretty sure he mentioned the oat is about -20F tonight which is relatively mild compare to what they get in the dead of the winter. :o

Lower btu lignite than he burned before ? Higher moisture in it ?

Do they use mpd's or barometric dampers on these? He did mention flames going up the flue..........

Just wild guesses from an anthracite burner . :D

Thanks Paulie, I missed his intro.

They have run this before w/o issues, so maybe coal BTU or moisture percentage has changed?????? A baro isn't a big deal on these outdoor models.

There are 28 spirals in the stack from what I researched, they cold be gooed up from excess moisture, maybe???

Other than that keeping the clinkers making down below a safe threshold by tweaking the air is all I got. Hope he gets it straightened out all okay. :)

As of 5:30 am the temp was still around 130. Far from 180 but on the bright side it didn't go to zero. The flame looked real nice and only one else big hand sized clinker. I'm at work now but my dad just got off shift so he is going to continue where I left off and do abit more tweaking. I think I'm gonna get my furnice switched over to my back up propane and take my house off the line and see if the furnice catches up. Outside temp is supposed to get a little warmer in a week so I'll go back on line then.

If all the above help doesnt help, clean the whole thing out including chimney (unless you can verify its not plugged) and start over. Its possible when the power stopped it left a lot of half to 3/4 burned crap in the firebox after it stopped burning and being any type of soft coal it is going to make a lot of soot. Im no help on the electric gadget part of your stove.

Okay thank you, I'll pass that info on to my dad. Dad also said he was gonna turn up the feed on the coal.

Greetings,Ranger ! It sure looks like You and Pa Celebrated a "Bust-Ass And Hope Christmas" !

I'm figuring after the Power Outage and Restoration,You had several things go hard against You. Your structures went cold and heat was constantly being called for. Once You got this Heat Monster going again,You were constantly back pedalling, trying to overcome the massive call for heat. Stay with this, and see if You steadily climb through the day today. You're core temp's of Your structures are trying to rebuild, pushing that invasive cold back out to the exterior. That's going to take time. You've only got so much heat generating capacity, even if Your Flame's perfect. Your Hopefully coming out of the hole of a pretty rough overnight low temp,so let's see how Pa does taking over for You.

Hope Your Shift at the mine goes well !

That's exactly what's happening. Dad got it up to 150 today and slowly climbing. Hopefully tomorrow I can get running on my backup propane and let the furnice get back up to temp and stay there. I'll just run my backup till the outside Temps warm up a bit, looks like about a week. In the meantime we found another 5010 legend to buy and once installed this should never happen again. Thanks you guys so much for the great info. If you have anymore keep it coming. Very helpful forum.
