Great news ! Don't forget to keep us posted when you install your backup boiler.
I'm curious ...... How many tons of lignite do you burn in an average year ?

What did you learn to get it dialed in?
What did you learn to get it dialed in?
We burn on average 23 tons a winter season.
What I learned. I don't think we ever had this furnice dialed in, maybe close but not like it is now. Paying this close of attention to the furnice has taught me alot more about how it works and alot more of what to look for when trying to dial it in. Thanks for all the help and pointing me in the right direction.

These Fine Folks Here would be the first Ones to tell You that We were Thrilled to Help You & Pa out on Christmas !

Very well said HB.
I second your sentiments entirely.

You guys are awesome. I was glad you guys didn't call me a idiot and was patient with me when I didn't know exactly what I was talking about. That speaks alot to me. I've been on other forums for different things and there always seems to be those couple jerks that ruin it for you. As I said before, great forum, great people and awesome help.
You guys have a wicked New Year and all the best. I'm spending mine doing a nightshift at the mine. Cheers everyone.

Congratulations and Happy New Year to you also !
I happened to glance up at your Avitar and noticed you are no longer listed as a new member.
You have graduated with full honors and received your wings. Welcome to the Coal Pail family !
Now its your turn to help us out. We are familiar with Anthracite and Bituminous mining but I for one am not familiar with mining Lignite.
Do you work in a deep mine or surface mine ? Any pictures you can post would definitely be of interest.

We do open pit strip mining here. Expose the coal with draglines and load the coal out into coal haulers (really just 777F end dumps with huge trailers) with 993 cat loaders. We provide coal for 2 power plants, Shand and Boundary Power Station which also has Carbon Capture technology. Also provide coal for a Beinfait plant which makes other things with the lignite. All 3 plants are right on the mine.

Awesome! Now your speaking my language with the open pit stip-cuts. Thank you for your photos!
My grandfather and Great Uncle were a dragline oiler and operator in the bituminous fields just West of here and my family has been actively involved with hauling coal for 4 generations including myself so I can relate.

I'm a second generation coal miner starting with my dad. I think he's been doing it for around 20 years and I'm going on my 7th. Right now he is a oiler on one of the draglines and has been for alot of years. I'm currently a serviceman and it's a fun job working on all the equipment. I've also been a oiler, hauler operator and a dozer operator. Great industry to work in, just hope it lasts long enough for me and future people to retire doing.
looks like either the tuyeres are clogged or too low coal feed. Could be coke inside the tuyeres - not readily apparent. Equally likely to bee to low coal feed with too much air: partially bridged screw in hopper and/ or worn coal screw or the coal feed rate is adjustable and someone adjusted it down or wet / freezing coal causing same screw bridging issues.
